Cookie policy
How we use cookies and tracking tools, and how your data is managed.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to make the site work, remember your preferences and collect statistical or marketing information. This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on licensgo.co.uk, why we use them and how you can control them. The website is operated by Licensgo LLC, a limited liability company formed in the State of Delaware, United States, 651 North Broad Street, Suite 205, Middletown, Delaware 19709, United States.
The same rules apply to similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels and SDKs, and to any technique that collects information from your device or that your device sends automatically, including tracking without cookies and tracking carried out from our server. In this policy, ‘cookies’ covers all of these.
02
Categories of cookies
We use four categories: Necessary, Statistics, Analytics and Marketing. Statistics (Matomo, see section 3.2) works without cookies, is on by default and can be switched off at any time with the ‘Statistics’ switch in ‘Cookie settings’. The other categories are:
- Necessary – essential for the website, your basket, checkout and payment security to work, and to remember your cookie choices. Always on: they do not need your consent.
- Analysis – Google Analytics (section 3.1) and order source attribution (section 3.5), which help us understand how the website is used and which channels lead to orders. Off by default: they run only if you accept them.
- Marketing – would be used to measure advertising campaigns and show relevant ads. We do not currently use any marketing tools on licensgo.co.uk; if we add any, they will run only with your consent.
03
The tools we use
Below are the tools we use, who provides them, what they do and how long the data is kept.
3.1 Google Analytics (GA4) — Analytics category
- Provider: Google Ireland Ltd. (Google LLC, USA).
- Purpose: statistics on how visitors use the website and traffic measurement, in aggregated or pseudonymised form. Google Analytics is loaded only after you accept the ‘Analytics’ category: before that, no data is sent to Google.
- Data processed: cookie identifiers, IP address (anonymised), pages viewed, events, device and browser type.
- Legal basis: your consent (‘Analytics’ category), which you can withdraw at any time in ‘Cookie settings’.
- Retention: _ga cookie up to 24 months; aggregated data up to 14 months.
- Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
3.2 Matomo (on our own server) — Statistics category, without cookies
- Provider: Licensgo, using Matomo software installed on our own server in the European Union (Germany); the data is not shared with third parties.
- Purpose: aggregated statistics on how our website is used and how it performs, used only to improve the website and never for advertising. Matomo runs without cookies, so no identifier is stored on your device; IP addresses are shortened (the last two bytes are masked) and the ‘Do Not Track’ setting of your browser is respected.
- Data processed: shortened IP address, pages viewed, events (for example clicks, downloads and purchases), referring website, visit duration, device type and browser.
- Legal basis: the exception for statistics in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR, Schedule A1, paragraph 5): we use Matomo only to produce statistics that help us improve our website, the data stays on our own server and is not shared or used for advertising, and you can object at any time. Under the UK GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used. Consent is therefore not required, but you can switch Matomo off at any time with the ‘Statistics’ switch in ‘Cookie settings’.
- Retention: statistics are kept in aggregated form on our own server, and Matomo sets no cookies (disableCookies). To object, switch off ‘Statistics’ in ‘Cookie settings’, at the bottom of every page, or turn on ‘Do Not Track’ in your browser.
3.3 Marketing category — no tools in use
- Provider: Google Ireland Ltd. (Google LLC, USA).
- Purpose: none at present. We do not use advertising, remarketing or conversion-tracking tools on licensgo.co.uk. If we decide to use one, we will first update this policy, and the tool will run only if you accept the ‘Marketing’ category.
- Data processed: none.
- Legal basis: your consent (‘Marketing’ category).
- Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
3.4 Nexi (XPay) — Necessary category
- Provider: Nexi Payments S.p.A.
- Purpose: secure card payment processing, strong customer authentication (SCA/3-D Secure) and fraud prevention.
- Data processed: transaction data, technical and session identifiers, anti-fraud information. Full card details are handled directly by Nexi: Licensgo does not store them.
- Legal basis: strictly necessary to provide the payment you request and to keep it secure (PECR, Schedule A1, paragraph 4), so consent is not required; under the UK GDPR, the performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
- Retention: for the duration of the payment session; payment records are then kept for as long as the law requires.
- Privacy policy: nexi.it/privacy.
3.5 Order source attribution (Licensgo, first party) — Analytics category
- Provider: Licensgo, on its own domain; the data is not sold or shared for profiling.
- Purpose: to find out which channel led to an order (for example a search engine, a newsletter, a link on another website or a direct visit) and which visits came before the purchase, so that we can assess how effective our marketing is.
- Data processed: source, medium, campaign and search term of the visit, entry page, date, device type and, if the link you followed contains one, an advertising click identifier (for example gclid). The data stays on your device and is attached to your order only if you buy.
- Tools: cookie _lg_attr (latest source, 180 days) and local storage lg_first_touch / lg_touches (first contact and last 5 contacts, 90 days).
- Ad click identifiers: we do not currently share them with any advertising platform. If we start using advertising tools, we will share them only if you have accepted the ‘Marketing’ category (see section 3.3).
- Legal basis: your consent (‘Analytics’ category), because this information is stored on your device. If you do not accept ‘Analytics’, the cookie and the local storage items are not set.
04
The law and your consent
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR, regulation 6, as amended from 5 February 2026), we may store information on your device, or access or collect information from it, including information that your device sends automatically, only with your consent, unless an exception applies. Necessary cookies, including Nexi's payment cookies, are strictly necessary for the service you request, so they do not need consent. Matomo falls under the exception for statistics: it does not need consent, but you can object at any time with the ‘Statistics’ switch. Google Analytics, order source attribution and any marketing tools run only after you have given your consent in the cookie banner: nothing that needs consent runs before you make your choice.
You can change your choices or withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
05
Managing your preferences
On your first visit, the cookie banner lets you choose ‘Accept all’, ‘Reject all’ or ‘Customise’; rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can reopen the settings at any time through ‘Cookie settings’ at the bottom of every page and change your choices, including switching off ‘Statistics’.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, parts of the website and checkout may not work.
06
Data transfers outside the UK
Licensgo LLC is a company formed in the United States. Matomo data is stored on our own server in the European Union, which the UK recognises as providing adequate protection. If you accept Google Analytics, Google may also process data in the United States; these transfers rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or, where applicable, on the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Our Privacy policy has more information about international transfers.
07
How long cookies last
Duration depends on the cookie: session cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain for the period stated in section 3 (for example _ga up to 24 months and _lg_attr 180 days). Your cookie choices are kept in your browser's local storage until you change them or clear your browser data.
